When registering your child in our preschool, you are
also making a commitment to our cooperative structure. As a member of a family cooperative preschool, you and your family are partners in your child’s education. In addition to being involved in the classroom and working closely with our teaching staff, families also share in the responsibility for the school’s operation. While it is true that a family co-op requires more family involvement than a traditional preschool, the reward is a deep involvement in your child’s first school experiences and a unique sense of community with the staff and other families at Saxon Hill School. Family Helping
Family helping is a very special time for you and for your child.
You will be part of a rotating family helping schedule. The schedule is created for the full school year so families can plan in advance or swap with other families, as needed. Helping in the class is a terrific opportunity to get to know the program, the staff, the child, and the child's peers. It’s also a great opportunity to explore your playful side!
The Family Helper is responsible for bringing snack for the whole class and for cleaning up the classroom at the end of the morning. This is a good time to share your own skills and interests, if you choose (e.g., cooking, building, dramatic play, etc.) Folks who have never been in a roomful of children have no need to worry. We'll guide you through the experience & you'll likely be excited for your next turn!

Leadership and Committee Work
Visitors to our school frequently comment on our beautiful classroom & playground spaces. We can create and maintain those spaces because of the support & efforts of our families. They are responsible for the upkeep and care of our school. Families share in the care of the school by serving on the Leadership Council, Operations Board or on a committee. Examples of committee responsibilities include fundraising, cleaning, building & grounds repair, and organizing social events . Families are encouraged to communicate their strengths and interests for a committee assignment that is meaningful and enjoyable.

August: important information for starting school January: review and approve the budget/tuition changes and registration policies March: appoint members of the Leadership Council for the following year and Operations Board members when needed An adult from every family is expected to attend all FMMs to stay apprised of school happenings and participate in conducting Saxon Hill School business. The dates can be found on the school calendar. |
